Foiled Again!

That takes me back to the days of watching "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle". Whenever the villain Snidely Whiplash was squashed by the heroic Dudley Do-Right, you would hear him exclaim "Curses, foiled again!"

Today I'm going to show you how easy it is to use foil on your projects to add some sparkle, without feeling "foiled again".

First you'll gather your materials

You'll need scissors, double sided adhesive sheets, a rub-on tool (or Popsicle stick), your project and of course some foil. This foil is very thin. We Are Memory Keepers makes it in many different colors. They also have kits with pre-made designs. I am using one of those for this demonstration. If you are not using a kit, you would first cut your design from the double sided adhesive sheet.

Once you have selected your design, you remove the paper backing from the double sided adhesive and place it (sticky side down) on your project.

Now use your rub-on tool to rub over the design and cause the adhesive to attach to your project. Once that is done, carefully peel the protective sheet away, leaving the adhesive exposed on your project.

Lay the foil dull side down on the adhesive (shiny side up). Use your rub-on tool again to rub the foil on to the adhesive. It does not take much pressure. You'll see the foil adhering to your design as you rub it.

Once this is complete, you can carefully lift up the foil.

It comes up rather easily and leaves behind your wonderful design.

I used the foil to give a little extra shine to this birthday card. Although the shine doesn't show as well in the photo as it does in real life. The design I used had a bit of a grunge look to it and to help make it look even older, I loosely laid the foil over it so it would create some folds as I rubbed it which became lines in the final design. It gives the lettering a "worn" look. Since this card is for a 75th birthday, I wanted to get a more vintage look. Yes the 75 cents is a pun on the persons age and not for some overpriced bubblegum!

Have fun using foil as one of your embellishing options!
